Frederick Rhead
Father of Charlotte Rhead (Art Deco ceramics designer) and Frederick Hurton, Frederick Rhead studied under Marc Solon at the Minton factory. As a ceramics designer he also worked for Wedgwood. His daughter, Charlotte, joined him at the Atlas Tile Works that he established in partnership with F. H. Barker.
Charlotte also followed her father to H. J. Wood & Son in 1913, where from 1912 he was employed as Art Director designing in the 1930's under the label 'Bursley Ware'.
Frederick also worked for the Shelley factory producing wares under the tradename 'Intarsio' in the early part of the twentieth century.
